It's the WILD Oklahoma Women!
JUST FOR THE LADIES

Oklahoma has some of the greatest hunters in the country and yes, many of them are women.  And there is only one program that gives women a loud and aggressive voice in the outdoors - WILD Oklahoma.

But you know what?  WILD Oklahoma Women isn't just for Oklahoma hunters - women from across the nation are welcome to be a part of the WILD tradition.  Hunters, anglers and female participants in the shooting sports are welcomed to participate and celebrate the joys of women and firearms.

Brittany Jo Mayer

I’m Brittany Jo Mayer, born and raised in Elgin, Oklahoma, now currently living in Chickasha where I work in law enforcement. I’m 23 years old and love the outdoors. I attended Southern Arkansas University in college playing softball, now back in Oklahoma working and spending time hunting and fishing with family and friends, along with enjoying many other activities.

Dad always showed me the ropes around the outdoors, as he got me into as soon as I started walking, and hunting as soon as I could hold a shotgun and rifle in steady hand. I shot my first deer at age 8, dad standing by holding the video camera, both our hearts pounding loudly smiling from ear to ear. It was then I knew this was the hobby and way of life for me.

Some interesting things about me are that I am a true sports fanatic, doesn’t matter what sport it is. I absolutely love the outdoors. Growing up I showed sheep in 4-H and FFA as well as a couple hogs. Sheep were my favorite as we also raised and sold our own. If I had a choice to go skiing or fishing at the lake, I would choose fishing in a heartbeat. I love peanut butter and pickle sandwiches on wheat bread and redbull. I’ll take a challenge on the grill any day. I’m 5’3” and I love my truck!

My parents are Roger and Anita Mayer whom currently live in Elgin. I have one brother named Casey who is 19 years old, also living in Elgin along with my grandmother, Mary Herrick.

Kimberly Manuel

You WISH you could ride like a girl!

It could be said that Kimberly was riding before birth, because she was. Her mother, a horse trainer, was riding when she was pregnant with Kimberly.. A few years after her birth she took the reins herself. With the help of her mother at age 9 she co-trained Fly'n Easy; a paint gelding that was her first show horse.

She showed competitively in halter, showmanship, western pleasure, reining, trail, and western riding, earning many high point awards. In her high school years Kimberly aquired the need for speed and began to barrel race. During this time she won Kingfisher PRCA rodeo queen (1994) and Kingfisher round-up club queen (1995). Since high school riding had been limited to pleasure riding rather than competitive riding.

She is passing down the legacy that has been handed to her from generations to her sons, Kash(5) and Luke(3). In 2008 Kash won 3rd at Pinto World, and placed 10th at World in the lead-line class.  In this family we're not cowboy by choice, we're cowboy by birth
